The Minnesota Wild locked up young defenseman Marco Scandella for five more years Saturday in a deal reportedly worth $20 million, according to ESPN’s Pierre LeBrun.

Scandella, 24, has eight points in 21 games this season, his fifth at the NHL level. His five goals thus far in the season already mark a new career-high.

With the Wild since being drafted in the second round of the 2008 NHL draft, Scandella has tallied 12 goals and 28 assists in 168 career games.
